This privacy statement applies to Thirdfloor Software Works and any of its affiliates which control and make use of visitor information collected via this site.

If you as a visitor choose to register or submit information to this Website, you agree to the use of such data in accordance with this privacy statement. Please note that this site contains links to other sites, including sites maintained by affiliates of Thirdfloor Software Works, which may not be governed by this privacy statement.

Thirdfloor Software Works has sought to adhere to the Privacy Act 1988 and to the Guidelines for Federal and ACT Government World Wide Websites published by the Privacy Commissioner, and provides the following privacy statements.

COOKIES
Session cookies are required by Gazette tools to track sessions, enabling personal logins and continuity of interaction with our systems. Users are identified by items such as IP address, domain, browser type and pages visited. Session cookies are short-lived and used only during a browsing session and expire when you quit the browser. Persistent cookies are stored on your computer, contain an expiration date and may be used to track your browsing behaviour upon return to the issuing web site. Cookies do not contain personal information such as your name or email address. Visitors may be denied access to some parts of our site if their browsers are set to decline cookies.

USE OF PERSONAL INFORMATION
Thirdfloor Software Works will only use personal information you provide for the purpose for which it is provided e.g. the use of Gazette research and publishing tools. Thirdfloor Software Works retains the e-mail address of people who send E-mails through various feedback mechanisms, for the purpose of sending a response. They are stored in a secure area within the Message Services System and will not be used for any other purpose nor disclosed without your consent.

ACCESS TO INFORMATION
We are dedicated to providing reasonable access to visitors who wish to review the personal information retained when they register with our Web site and correct any inaccuracies it may contain. Visitors who choose to register may access their user profile, correct and update their details, or unsubscribe at any time. The data generated by the systems you are accessing is stored in databases and system logs. These databases and logs are preserved and archived for possible future use. The data is used by Thirdfloor software, and by our support staff, for - web site and systems administration, including monitoring as a security measure - customisation of the web site to meet your needs - evaluation, research and development. The data collected will not be disclosed to a third party except where it is legally required, such as in the investigation of a criminal offence, and in compliance with a search warrant or subpoena.

The only personal information that Thirdfloor Software Works holds of its own clients are business contact details, which are only used for the purposes of conducting business with our clients.

However, as a research and consultancy organisation, Thirdfloor Software Works is often contracted by our clients (who are also bound by the Privacy Act or National Privacy Principals) to collect or analyse data that may include personal information.

The purpose of the research and requirements for personal information will be clearly communicated to the respondent. The purpose of the collection is clearly noted on any survey instruments or data collection forms.
